Standing Seam Installation

What is a standing seam metal roof system?
A standing seam system uses raised interlocking seams that connect panels without exposed fasteners. The clip attachment is concealed beneath the seam, which eliminates roof penetrations. This is the fundamental difference between standing seam and exposed fastener metal roofing.
What determines whether a home gets mechanical seam or snap lock?
Roof slope. Below 3:12 pitch, a mechanical seam profile is required because it creates a 180-degree fold that prevents capillary water intrusion. Above 3:12, snap lock profiles provide adequate weather protection at a lower installation cost. The gauge selection applies equally to both profile types.
Why does crew specialization matter for residential installation?
Standing seam installation requires specialized seaming equipment, brake forming tools, and manufacturer training. A generalist roofing company subcontracts this work to a crew like ours. When you hire us directly, you eliminate the general contractor markup and get the same crew at wholesale pricing.
What substrate options are available for residential projects?
24-gauge Galvalume steel is the standard for inland residential installations. Properties within the 1,500-foot coastal zone require marine-grade aluminum substrates to maintain full manufacturer warranty coverage. Both options accept Kynar 500 PVDF coatings.
What warranty coverage does a residential standing seam roof carry?
Three warranty layers: a panel material warranty from the steel mill, a coating warranty from the paint manufacturer, and a system weathertight warranty from the panel manufacturer. Our warranty guide explains what each layer covers and excludes.
