Taylor Metals Standing Seam Roofing

The brand of metal beneath your standing seam roof is a decision most roofing contractors never discuss. It should be. The quality of the coil determines your roof's finish, long-term color retention, and manufacturer warranty for decades to come.

Taylor Metals is a leading Western United States roofing-metal manufacturer, and we trust its products on homes throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, and Riverside counties. We purchase premium Taylor Kynar 500-painted coil and roll-form every 1.5-inch snap-lock standing seam panel on site specifically for your home. Taylor supplies the metal. We build the roof.

Why Does the Coil Brand Matter?

The coil brand determines far more than the color of your roof. It determines the quality of the finish, how well that finish resists fading and chalking, and the manufacturer warranty that stands behind the finished product.

Many homeowners never hear about the coil manufacturer because some roofing contractors simply purchase whichever coil is available or costs the least. Two standing seam roofs can look nearly identical on installation day but perform very differently after years of Southern California sunshine, heat, and coastal conditions.

That is why we build every standing seam roof using premium 70% Kynar 500 PVDF finishes that are engineered for long-term durability. We want your roof to retain its appearance for decades, not just the first few years after installation.

We only put our 8-year workmanship warranty behind two manufacturers. That should tell you something.

The Taylor System We Install

Taylor Metals supplies the premium Kynar 500-painted coil. We transform that coil into your finished roof by roll-forming every 1.5-inch snap-lock standing seam panel on site. Instead of installing factory-made panels, we manufacture each panel to the exact length your roof requires.

Our standard system uses 22-gauge or 24-gauge steel for inland homes and .032-inch or .040-inch aluminum for coastal homes. We never specify Taylor's thinner 26-gauge steel because we only install heavy-gauge materials that meet our standards for strength and long-term performance.

Every panel features a 70% Kynar 500 PVDF finish that resists fading and chalking under Southern California's intense sun. The panels are installed with concealed clips spaced according to the engineered specifications for your project, allowing the roof to expand and contract naturally while maintaining a clean, weathertight appearance.

For homes with high winds, long panel runs, or lower roof slopes, we also offer a mechanically seamed standing seam system as a premium upgrade. After installation, each seam is mechanically folded to create an even tighter weather seal for demanding conditions.

Taylor's 40-Year Warranty

A premium standing seam roof deserves a premium warranty. Taylor backs qualifying roofing systems with a 40-year manufacturer finish warranty, and we stand behind every qualifying installation with our own 8-year workmanship warranty.

Taylor's manufacturer warranty covers the factory-applied finish. Kynar 500 protects steel roofing, while AlumiGuard protects aluminum roofing. Our workmanship warranty covers the installation itself, giving you confidence in both the roofing product and the craftsmanship behind it.

Our installation methods are designed to meet the manufacturer's warranty requirements. We install 22-gauge or 24-gauge steel, or .032-inch or .040-inch aluminum, perform a complete tear-off, and install every standing seam roof over solid wood decking. That is how we build every roof because it delivers the strongest, longest-lasting roofing system.

What UL Certifications Does Taylor Metals Offer?

Taylor Metals roofing systems are independently tested for fire, wind, and impact performance. The standing seam systems we install are available with UL 790 Class A Fire, UL 580 Class 90 Wind Uplift, and UL 2218 Class 4 Impact (Hail) ratings when installed as the tested roof assembly.

UL 790 Class A Fire
UL 580 Class 90 Wind Uplift
UL 2218 Class 4 Impact (Hail)

These certifications apply to the complete roofing system, not just the metal panels. The roof deck, underlayment, concealed clips, fasteners, and installation methods all work together to achieve the published performance ratings.

For your home, that means a standing seam roof engineered to deliver exceptional fire resistance, wind uplift performance, and hail impact protection when installed according to Taylor's specifications and our installation standards.

Made in Riverside, California

Taylor Metals operates a manufacturing facility in Riverside, California, right inside our Southern California service area. That local presence helps shorten lead times and keeps schedule-sensitive roofing projects moving.

Having a regional manufacturing facility means premium Taylor coil is available closer to the jobs we build throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, and Riverside counties. Shorter transportation distances help improve product availability and reduce delays that can occur when materials must be shipped across the country.

Local manufacturing also allows us to respond more quickly if additional material is needed during a project. Because we roll-form every standing seam panel on site from Taylor coil, dependable access to that material helps us maintain quality, scheduling, and consistency from start to finish.

For homeowners, it means your roof is built from premium Western-made materials backed by a manufacturer with a strong presence in Southern California.

Frequently Asked Questions

Taylor Metal Products is a leading Western metal roofing manufacturer that supplies the premium steel and aluminum we form into standing seam roofs. Taylor produces metal coils finished in 70% Kynar 500 PVDF. It is one of only two brands we trust enough to install and back with our warranty.

While Taylor makes finished panels, we only buy Taylor's premium coil and form the actual panels ourselves, on site, on our own roll-former. We do this because every panel is a different length, even if only by 1/8 inch, so each one has to be measured and formed to your exact roof. You get Taylor's premium metal, formed by our own C-43 licensed sheet-metal specialist.

We install Taylor Metals because it is a proven, premium manufacturer and one of only two brands we trust enough to back with our warranty. Taylor's metal is finished in 70% Kynar 500 PVDF and tested to strict building-code standards, including fire, wind lift and water. Its Riverside branch also means fast, reliable local supply, so your roof is never held up waiting on material shipped across the country.

Taylor supplies both premium steel and aluminum for standing seam roofs. We only install 22 and 24-gauge steel and .032 and .040-inch aluminum for coastal homes exposed to salt air. The metal used to form the standing seam roof panels is finished in 70% Kynar 500 PVDF. Because Taylor stocks the exact metals and thicknesses we use, we can match the right metal to your roof and its location.

Yes, Taylor Metals is a high-quality manufacturer whose standing seam systems are independently tested and code-approved. Taylor's panels carry an ICC-ES code evaluation report and UL listings, rated Class A for fire, Class 90 for wind uplift, and Class 4 for impact. That independent testing is a big part of why we trust Taylor on homes in our fire and wind zones.

Taylor backs its metal with strong manufacturer warranties, including a 40-year residential paint finish warranty on its Standard Kynar 500 colors against fading and chalking, with other finishes warrantied from 20 years depending on the product. On top of Taylor's product warranty, we add our own 8-year workmanship warranty on the installation, so both the material and the labor are covered.

Yes, Taylor's standing seam systems earn the highest Class A roofing fire rating, which is essential for a home in California's fire country. Taylor's panels are tested to the UL fire, wind lift and impact standards, and are installed as a complete fire resistant assembly including our fire-resistant underlayment. A Taylor roof gives wind-driven embers nothing to catch because there are no gaps like clay and concrete tile. It is one of the reasons Taylor is a brand we trust for wildfire-zone homes.

Taylor offers about 30 standard-price colors plus premium metallic and specialty weathering finishes, all in a 70% Kynar 500 PVDF finish, including its Definitive Matte Collection of low-gloss matte tones. Because there are so many options, we cover them in detail on our Taylor colors and finishes page, where you can see the full range and the cool-roof choices.
